Allied Telesis Inks Partnership Deal with ETV for Triple Play Offering

16/10/2006

Targeting hospitality and new-build residential markets with projected revenues of €3M.

Allied Telesis, a global provider of secure Ethernet/IP access solutions and an industry leader in the deployment of IP Triple Play networks over copper and fiber access infrastructures, today announced a strategic partnership with ETV Interactive Ltd, a worldwide market leader in converged IP entertainment, communication and information systems.

Under the terms of the deal, ETV Interactive will standardise its software technology and multimedia content on Allied Telesis’ next generation networking solutions. The partnership will initially target the hospitality and new-build residential markets and aims to generate €3M in revenues over the first 18 months.

“With over 330,000 Irish homes enjoying broadband connectivity and over 80,000 new builds each year, the opportunity for IP/TV and triple play is significant,” commented Steven Morris, CEO, ETV Interactive.

“Our strategy is to work closely with ISPs, Telcos, cable companies and developers to deliver the type of sophisticated home entertainment package, demanded by Irish consumers.”

ETV’s systems typically include digital voice, high-speed Internet, Video/Audio on demand, email and gaming.

“Having already achieved success with our proven technology in European and Asian markets, we are confident that Irish service providers will promptly embrace triple play enabling its proliferation into more mainstream use,” he added.

Commenting on the deal: Gavan Smyth, country manager, Allied Telesis said: “ETV’s decision to standardise its leading-edge solutions on Allied Telesis further underlines our position as the vendor of choice for end-to-end triple play solutions. The partnership supports our strategy of transforming Allied Telesis into a fully-fledged provider of next generation triple play solutions in verticals that still suffer from poor implementation of such services.”

Allied Telesis and ETV Interactive view residential new builds as a springboard into the mainstream market. “We will explore all strategic market entry points including progressive developers, keen to use the opportunity of triple play to generate ongoing revenue streams for their organisations,” commented Gavan Smyth. “Increasingly, management companies are also looking at triple play as an innovative way to generate revenue and ultimately reduce management fees for residents,” he added.
“We chose to work with Allied Telesis for several reasons,” explained Steven Morris. “The strength and breadth of the company’s product portfolio is an obvious one. However, there also exists a strong chemistry between both organisations, underpinned by a mutual commitment to deliver best-in-class triple play solutions to consumers worldwide.”

Allied Telesis already enjoys significant success delivering triple play solutions to the Irish hospitality sector with over 50 contracts completed for well known hotel brands in Ireland.
