ETVi Helps Patients Recover at Bumrungrad International Hospital, Bangkok

01/03/2007

ETV Interactive completes five-star service offering at Thailand’s leading hospital ‘hotel’.

Stirling, Scotland (UK) March 2007 – ETV Interactive, a leading provider of interactive IPTV entertainment and business systems to the global hospitality market, is pleased to announce the installation of its leading guest entertainment & communication system (‘ETVi’) at Bumrungrad International hospital in Bangkok.

Bumrungrad International (BI) is Thailand’s premier private hospital and was recently named one of the world’s top ten international hospitals by Newsweek International magazine. Bumrungrad is Asia’s first internationally accredited hospital and treats over 400,000 foreign patients annually from over 150 different countries.

ETV Interactive is delighted to be the preferred supplier of bedside entertainment and communication facilities at Bumrungrad - the first of its kind in Thailand. Bumrungrad International is a pioneer in implementing new concepts involving patient care.

With ETVi, Bumrungrad hospital patients can now enjoy watching a wide range of international TV channels and the latest movies on-demand from the world’s leading Hollywood studios. This state-of-the-art system also provides internet connection and email capability, allowing patients to stay in contact with family and friends throughout their stay.

ETV Interactive will work with ‘Global Care Solutions’ (GCS) – the IT supplier to Bumrungrad International – to enable seamless interaction with its ‘Hospital 2000’ software, which acts as the backbone for all core hospital functions. The integration of these systems will allow patient records to be accessed and displayed on the television screen at the patient’s bed.

Curtis Schroeder, Bumrungrad International Group CEO, commented that the hospital was searching for the ‘right’ entertainment platform for its inpatient rooms and suites: “We are constantly looking at new and innovative ways that we can enhance patient comfort and convenience, and the ETVi system is a perfect example of how we use technology to make our patients feel better.”

The move into patient care is an exciting one for the company and an obvious next move, as ETV Interactive’s founder and CEO, Steven Morris explains: “Providing bedside entertainment and communication facilities to patients is an idea we’ve had for a long time, but until now haven’t had the opportunity to deploy. How many times have you visited a sick relative in hospital and wished there was something on offer to help take their mind off their illness and speed their recovery? Even hospitals that do provide such systems are often let down by their unreliability, and the cost of deployment to both hospital and patient often outweighs the benefit. ETVi will revolutionise patient care service and ETV Interactive is delighted to work with Bumrungrad which is widely recognized as an industry leader.”
